Despite Elon Musk’s promise, it seems that Twitter’s layoffs are continuing, and the company has laid off a number of its employees over the past week to help cut costs.
According to The Verge, Elon Musk continues to fire Twitter employees; Dozens of people in engineering and sales were laid off last week, including one of Musk’s direct reports who managed the engineering of Twitter’s advertising business.
According to The Verge, that means Twitter’s new CEO has completed at least three rounds of layoffs. This comes despite his promise not to do so after a brutal round of layoffs in November that affected two-thirds of the platform’s 7,500 employees.
In a meeting with his employees, Elon Musk claimed that Twitter will now actively hire for positions in engineering and sales, and also asked employees to introduce a few selected candidates. However, Musk does fire employees from time to time.
Twitter has also closed two of its three offices in India and laid off employees as part of its efforts to cut costs and make the social network service more profitable.
