And according to the official statistics of the Turkish government, as a result of this massive earthquake last Monday, 1,939 buildings were destroyed in the city of Adyaman in the southeast of Turkey, and so far 3,105 deaths have been recorded in this city.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan ordered the declaration of a state of emergency in 10 provinces “Adana, Adyaman, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep, Kahraman Maraş, Kilis, Malatya, Osmania, Hatay and Sanliurfa”, which has been in effect since last Wednesday. This announcement of a regional state of emergency increases the powers of local authorities and law enforcement agencies, and the government can suspend the implementation of some laws in these areas or enact new laws in order to help earthquake victims faster and better.
