YouTube has become the perfect platform to express oneself, tell stories, and engage people from all walks of life. It has become a melting pot for ideas, perspectives, and all sorts of entertaining content. Anyone who has something to share or simply wants to be heard can use the platform to showcase videos. Emerging filmmaker and photographer Edsta, also known as Eddie Ilie, leverages this potential to give ordinary New Yorkers a voice through his YouTube channel called Extra Edsta

As a freelance filmmaker, Edsta gets to enjoy a lot of creative freedom when it comes to populating his channel. From among the limitless kinds of content he could possibly showcase, he chose to put the spotlight on ordinary people by asking them random questions to gauge what they think. One of his recent videos is the one where he asks random people to rate how happy they are on a scale of one to ten.

The replies that Edsta got were very interesting. Those from other countries were mostly happy and grateful to enjoy New York to either study or start a career. Some were also very candid in expressing that they are mostly just happy to wake up each morning, live another day and be surrounded by people who really care about them. Others were also excited to share that they enjoy the New York weather, the people, and the vibe of the city, among others. Edsta did a whole series on this, much to the delight of his over 6,000 subscribers on YouTube.

Another viral content was Edsta asking random people how they rate themselves on a scale of one to ten. Interestingly, the simple concept for a video generated millions of views on YouTube. Some confident people said they rated themselves a ten when asked how beautiful they think they are. At the end of the day, being able to put a smile on peoples’ faces brings Edsta a whole new level of fulfillment.

“I want viewers to be able to recognize my brand whenever they watch an Extra Edsta video. I would also like my viewers to be able to connect with and relate to some of the strangers in my videos,” Edsta explained. “Sometimes, I am able to put a smile on people’s faces, and I want the viewers to get a sense of satisfaction from that.”

Edsta is committed to creating quality videos designed to attract young people. With an understanding of how important it is to provide the current generation with valuable content they can all learn from, Edsta wants to be able to make a difference in their lives. By listening to the voice of ordinary people, the younger generation will realize that many go through some of the things they are also struggling with. By doing this, they will realize that they are not alone and can be part of a kind community where they can get the acceptance and support they need.

Edsta was inspired to create his YouTube channel after watching several content creators from abroad. Confident that New York would be the perfect venue to seek out man-on-the-street comments and opinions, he set out on a unique journey to add value to people’s lives.
