Shakir was actually in high school, 17 at the time when he started venturing into the fashion industry. He was working in a supermarket and just got sick of it. He wanted to become his boss. He reached out to around 20 factories and then finally found one. 

The unique jerseys that they were selling appealed to Shakir, and then he reached out to a freelance graphic designer, started making a lot of custom jerseys, and people were loving them. Advertising on Facebook, Snapchat, and then also moving into Tik Tok helped them a lot as well. During its inaugural year, the Jersey Nation brand gained significant traction, making over $800,000 in revenue with celebrity partnerships including DDG, Nick Young, The Professor, Emmanuel Mudiay, and more. 

Jersey Nation’s website features a comprehensive product portfolio replete with various basketball, baseball, football, high school, and customized jerseys. Other bigshot sports icons like Klay Thompson, Jamal Murray, and Chuck Liddell.
