When working in customer services, you are supposed to put on a big smile and act upbeat and happy-go-lucky. Maybe some days you may actually feel that pure joy but that is not always the case. Even if you do not have that kind of profession, sometimes society can make us feel like we need to be ‘on’ all the time. Tessa Kaye’s new single “Sunshine & Rainbows” reminds us that it is okay to experience off days, we all have them.

The colorful track explodes with soulful vocals soaring over lush, sparkling synths. With relatable lines like “don’t tell me not to cry because you don’t let it show,” Tessa Kaye creates an anthem of letting go. So often people feel like they must bury their emotions in turn causing them to shame others for releasing theirs. Kaye is ready for that vicious cycle to be broken and this proud song is the perfect start.

Growing up the queer singer felt different in her white Mormon community. Struggling with anxiety, music was an outlet to channel her frustrations. Now living on the west coast she shares her unique life perspective. Those profound truths are heard in every tune. “Sunshine & Rainbows” is a testament to just how far she has come.
